Bushmills Live

I've been sneaking music videos into some of the articles here lately. I figure nobody drinks whiskey in silence and I write these pieces to a soundtrack anyway so you might as well hear what I'm listening to (only if you want to, of course).

Bushmills has noticed how well whiskey and music blend too. In the US, indie band Bon Iver has been fronting some of their marketing. Now Bushmills is bringing it all home with a live concert at the distillery.

Actually it's described as a whiskey and music festival, taking place over two days - June 20th and 21st. Some of the acts have been announced: Snow Patrol, Foy Vance and Iain Archer, all artists with strong Northern Ireland connections. That's some solid, singer/songwriter cred already.

If you want to go, you have to win your ticket: see the Bushmills Facebook page for details. Besides seats at an intimate gig (400 people only) you also get to blend your own whiskey while there. I saw a recent interview with master distiller, Colum Egan, where he said "...  there are numerous types of seasoned barrels in the warehouses in anticipation of future innovations." It would be very cool to catch a glimpse of these "future innovations" before the rest of the world.
